「현대사회와 다문화」소개
현대사회와 다문화(Contemporary Society and Multiculture)는 다문화사회정책연구소에서 발간하는 국문 학술지로서 2011년 6월 첫 발간호가 나왔으며, 2018년 10월 15일에 한국학술진흥재단의 등재학술지로 선정되었습니다.현대사회에서 외형적으로 다양한 문화들이 혼합되어 다채로운 모습으로 나타나고 있는 다문화사회 속에서 우리는 살아가고 있습니다.
다문화 사회는 다양한 문화적 가치관과 생활양식, 사회공간적 관계의 구성방식, 정치경제적 작동 매커니즘의 변화가 나타납니다.
하지만, 우리 사회에서 외국인 이주자를 포함한 소수자들의 삶과 문화, 정체성과 권리는 여전히 주류사회ㆍ문화에서 주변화된 채 차별화되거나 무시되고 있습니다.
소수자들이 가지는 다양한 문화가 인정되지 않는다면, 이들의 삶 자체가 피폐화될 뿐만 아니라 우리 사회 전반도 갈등과 혼란에 빠질 수 있다.
이와 같이 다문화사회로의 전환과 이에 따라 발생할 수 있는 문제상황 및 이것에 대한 극복을 위해 일반인 뿐만 아니라 학문분야 연구자들의 많은 관심을 요구하고 있습니다.
따라서 본 학술지는 다문화사회와 관련된 다양한 학문분야에 종사하는 연구자들의 학제적 공동 노력을 통해, 그 동안 양적으로 발전한 연구 성과를 질적으로 더욱 깊게 발전시키면서 다문화 관련 담론을 더욱 넓게 확산시켜 나가는 역할을 담당하기 위해 창간했습니다.
현대사회와 다문화 학술지는 매년 2월 28일, 5월 30일, 8월 30일, 11월 30일에 출간되니, 관심 있는 연구자 여러분의 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁드립니다.
Contemporary Society and Multiculture is a Korean academic journal created by the Center for Multiculturalism and Social Policy, with its inaugural issue published in June 2011.
On October 15, 2018, the National Research Foundation of Korea enlisted the journal in its official list.
We are living in a multicultural society in which diverse cultures are mixed and represent themselves in different ways.
This social landscape includes dynamics changes in different cultural values and lifestyles, the way of organizing socio-spatial relationships, as well as political and economic principles.
However, the lives, culture, identities, and rights of minorities, including foreign immigrants, are consistently marginalized, discriminated against, and even overlooked by mainstream society and its culture.
When a society fails to acknowledge the diverse cultures of its minorities, it not only impoverishes the minorities’ lives but also throws the society into a state of conflict and confusion, and it is why researchers, as well as the public, should give attention to how societies transform into multicultural ones and overcome the resulting problems.
So far, the interdisciplinary efforts of researchers in various academic fields have led to quantitative developments in the multicultural society study.
As an extension of this academic progress, Contemporary Society and Multiculture pursue to improve the quality of developing research on multicultural societies and impart its discourses to the readers.
Contemporary Society and Multiculture is published annually on February 28, May 30, August 30, and November 30.
